Hey folks. I have started working with some AOL data. I have one IP that seems to be doing well 60,000 messages per day 6-8% open rate. I have a few others though that are giving me this error message: status=bounced (host mailin-02.mx.aol.com[] said: 521 5.2.1 : (CON:B1) http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/554conb1.html (in reply to end of DATA command)) Is this a 554 CON:B1 error or a 521 CON:B1 error? If its a 521, this isn't an error code published on their web page. Either way how should I handle this? Do I pause sending for 4 hours, etc.? One of my IPs has a neutral reputation based on AOL's ip reputation tool but still gets this error every time I try to send. My sending volume is just under 100 per hour per ip for warm ups. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Abe
Reputation tool is a known honeypot. You are not alone: http://www.mailerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?3671-New-AOL-Spam-Filtering Not that others having the same problem as you is particularly comforting..
Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and posted a question to the AOL blog (comment #12) and put in an email to support. Probably won't get a response but who knows. http://postmaster-blog.aol.com/2013/05/06/new-spam-filtering/
