Wondering which domain registrar is best to use currently. Older threads list namecheap / enom but those are not an option for the current campaign. Any other suggestions for registrars who won't kill accounts over one complaint? (Moniker is not an option either thanks to their custom name server issues)
Monikor has had ENDLESS issues in the more recent past with their DNS taking days to resolve. I've finally had to give up on them after waiting 2-3 days and repeatedly having to call them to try and get them to fix their DNS servers. I am not sure what's going on over there, but it's the only registrar I can think of who has had these sort of issues in my time online and has yet to fix them. :aargh4:
Namecheap has always been good for me. Not sure if this is still true or not but Network solutions has been known for their stand against SH. They will not take you down for complaints. The only problem though is that they Want $35 bucks each
Depends on IP source. If a North American ISP, no problem and preferred to do it that way. If outside the U.S., it's better to do it one of two different ways for better performance. That said, I am simply not going to go into it on public forums. Suffice to say we have done enough testing on our own, and because of our position in the industry sourcing ip space for the better part of a decade now, have seen enough to know the impact of doing things different ways and it's the result on the long term viability of ip space. Interesting.
He does, that's exactly the problem. Lately when you put custom name servers into Moniker's UI they will continue to resolve to the Moniker parking IP for days. I've also spent days on the phone w/ them and they admit it's an issue, they don't manage the DNS directly so they cannot help you and can only send your case on to the people who do. It takes an average of 3 days to finally get them working now.
