Blue Sky Factory held its first general email marketing conference in Chicago on June 22, 2011 with the purpose of creating a focused day of social and email marketing knowledge. One of the reasons most marketers aren’t as successful with email marketing as they would like to be is insufficient time to focus on the topic and dig into it.

During the day, we explored the five major areas of growth for any email marketing program, from audience building to deliverability to conversion and more. We looked at advanced methods of using social media to drive email performance and new ways of analyzing social influence for email. We even managed to debut a method for cross referencing social influence as measured by services such as Klout with email marketing.

Rather than attempt to write up what people thought were the relevant takeaways, we thought we’d let the audience tell the story of the day. Here’s a selection of tweets from the conference.
