I have a friend who owns a datacenter. He's willing to let me mail on a colo basis so long as I'm not stupid and don't try to break in raw data. I'll be getting 12Us and a 1000mb port unmetered. I have enough machines to fill it up (6 boxes).

No fines, any SBLs he'll not care about unless they're immediate. IPs (hopefully a /24, likely less at first) will be any clean ones he has.

He has had mailers before and booted them, but is ok with me doing it so long as it's not instant complaints.

I'm wondering if anyone with experience doing this can offer me some advice? Stupid move on my part?

(This is the noob section so please no tender loving!)

what are you doing for data hygiene? Are you confident in your lists?

    that's the real question.

Best advice I could suggest is to use this contact for your clean operation. Set up required RDNS, DKIM/DK, SPF, go slow and observe the warming up rules, and use another mta for your raw data/1st pass.
