Seems there is something that I am doing wrong..

I started sending from new IPs. Of course 5 IPs per domain, no more than 100Emails per IP/Hour,
Technically, I think I set all I can.. DKIM.. SPF.. All Gmail Bulk Email Guidelines...

The lists are ok and even went through IW...

And then I wake up today and on one of the IPs I see:
550-Rejected message because A.B.C.D is in a black list at 550
sbl.spamhaus.org (in reply to RCPT TO command)

    How can that be? ;/

The only thing I know I didnt do is clean bounces .. Can this be the reason for being blacklisted? And so fast?

Sbl's are caused by traps. How long has it been since you had your files scrubbed?

Was cleaned last week using IW.. I guess its common not to have 100% cleaned .. no?
So what should I do? Cleaning it with multiple companies is SO expensive.. I hope its not a must?

Also, if I have a trap in my lists, most likely it'll get other Emails in the future, unless unsubscribed, no?

    Are the range(s) SBL'd?

Or you are just having deliver-ability issues with the 550's?

    Hi DaMadHatter,

Im not sure what do you mean.. By range, you mean to ask if the entire range of IPs is listed? if so, the answer is no.
I only see it on that specific IP for now.. But I am building a better tool to help me do regular expressions .. So I can check it better and more accurately.

I am having deliver ability issues for sure, as I get hard bounces because of that.

Again, not sure thats what you meant asking... ?

    BTW,

All IPs associated to that domain.tld are listed (5 IPs)

I was asking if it was ip specific, or if it were part of a large allocation, which you answered.

Are you mailing Big 4 or GI specifically where you are seeing these errors?

Hotmail and Gmail I paused for now. Since I started to receive bounces. I am really not sure why. But I opened a thread about that as well:
    http://www.mailerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?4119-Gmail-blocking-my-messages

Maybe it will help you understand what is wrong.

About which providers, since now its all the IPs (5) associated with that specific domain, it means every provider using SpamHaus, is it not?

    Thanks.

Other than the reason to why this happened, which is most important, how should I act?
Avoid sending from that domain/IPs for X amount of time?
Or not send from them at all? :\

    Or ask for removal? hxxp://www.spamhaus.org/dbl/removal/form/

The ISP has to contact Spamhaus for removal.. It could be that you mailed a trap from that IP and the IPs got listed by spamhaus.. I would work on cleaning up that data and get new IP space and domains to mail from.

    Hi Nickphx,

Ok, I understand I can go for that solution. But think about it for a second... For example, in one of my businesses I use Silverpop for retention of our userbase. If what you say is right, if someone will register using some spamtraps, I will get listed on SpamHaus.

I think it cant be.. Probably since I use one IP/Domain with years of reputation?
    Or am I missing something?

Do other people here think also that is what needs to be done? remove the IPs/Domains?
And what will I do the next time I would like to Email that list ?

You can look up the listing on spamhaus.org by entering the IP address of your mail server.. It will tell you why it's listed. Also just because someone registered to receive email doesn't mean their email address will never turn into a trap.. If their domain expired and was picked up by SH contributor or Spam filtering company.. then it becomes a trap.. There's more to data 'hygiene' than just trap removal. If you have users that have not opened or clicked any of your messages in the past 3 months I would remove them.

    Hmm,

Actually, using the tool, I see that IP is listed here - hxxp://www.spamhaus.org/css/

    Unlike their reason:
"Because A.B.C.D is in a black list at 550sbl.spamhaus.org "

Can it be because of the way I use IPs and domains? Since they write this page:
"A dedicated Snowshoe component of the Spamhaus Block List."

So maybe after all something is wrong by how I send out the mailer?
