Expanding Google Adwords services beyond the regular ads, the service is now running tests with Honda that includes a direct email subscription option (prefilled apparently if you’re a logged in Gmail user) in the search results. Here’s an example:
This in-ad subscription option allows companies to capture an email address opt-in without the person subscribing even visiting the corporate website. A Privacy link is placed next to the ‘Subscribe to newsletter’ option to allow people to view what will happen with their data.
Thanks to Brian Pasch for posting this on the Google+ network. A quote from his update there:
I want to thank Mario Murgado Jr. from Brickell Honda for sharing this latest update to Adwords formatting which he came across today.
The ad, automatically populated Mario’s gmail address in the form shown in the green box below. If he clicked the “Subscribe to Newsletter” button, his email would be sent to the advertiser.
Being in testing mode, would you as a company invest in this type of Adwords when it becomes available to all to see how many email addresses you could get signed up? Looking at this new development from the ‘other side’: would you as an end user fill in your email address in a Google Adwords ad? Let us know in the comments or respond through the various social networks.
    Update December 12th:
One big ESP, Constant Contact, is now testing the direct email subscription too in Google Adwords:

Credits to Scott Hardigree for capturing that!
I would not have expected this to be picked up by ‘the big guys’ so fast – but apparently they’re already testing this themselves. If Google has given Constant Contact access, it won’t be long before ESP clients will be able to tune in on this too.

Wonder if the Haus will start sneaking their email addresses into these lists?

you know - the way I see it is that IF they did they'd be opting in and I bet the Google has all of the necessary tracking in place to make sure they have their collective ass covered in the event they get a complaint based on email sent after this process.

I'd love to see SH go after Google - I'd wager Google wouldn't have any trouble telling SH to go fuck themselves. That and the fact that SH would be opting in - so how could they claim spam unless they claim they opted out and still got an email?

It certainly opens the door for some interesting shit to take place.

Pretty exciting will be interesting to see how much it costs for a newsletter signup versus a normal click though. Hopefully they will open up this option to all adwords advertisers.

Not seeing the signup textbox on my end for test searches for honda and costantcontact.

Edit: Finally seeing on my end now for some sites.
Did a quick test. The data is posted directly back to google. Haven't received any confirmation email yet... hopefully they have a confirmation system. Will detail a little more on my blog

that is probably a competitor placing them. Same kind of people that dump their clicker files into network and lashback suppression files.
