Has Hotmail Discarded the List-Unsubscribe Functionality? Our good friend Jason Warnock, Director of Deliverability for Yesmail, has raised some interesting, but major functionality questions about changes (removal) of the List-Unsubscribe header that seem to have happened at Windows Live Hotmail recently. He asked if the community would also be interested in his thinking and of course we jumped at that opportunity. It appears that Window’s Live / Hotmail are no longer supporting the List-Unsubscribe functionality in their Webmail interface. Originally when a message contained the completed List-Subscribe header, a dynamic ‘Unsubscribe’ link would appear above the message in the user interface. After examining recent messages in my Hotmail account, this no longer appears to be the case. I have also had SenderScore Certified messages reach my inbox that don’t showcase the ‘List-Unsubscribe’ functionality ruling out the theory that only certified messages can utilize this feature. The question remains, was this overlooked when Hotmail revamped their functionality? or did Hotmail render it obsolete with their new feature set (Sweep, etc) ..
