So i found out today, that buying data that is ImpressionWise scrubbed, doesn't mean shit if you want to mail TLD.

    What IW offers:
Spam trap check. Domain level validation. MX and DNs and telnet response checks. Just not for major domains: Yahoo aol hotmail and gmail. Recipient level checks for those majors are not checked

So, I went looking for a service to scrub TLD.

Chat session (actual chat but names removed):

Me: do you do bulk email cleaning?

Them: yes we do. how many did you have in mind?

    Me: 750k

Them: Are they mostly consumer or business emails?

    Me: consumer

Them: That's our specialty. What company are you with?

Me: just my own - small ad agency, just added email as a traffic source

Them: Nice. Well welcome the space. Any idea what your budget is for getting these cleaned?

Me: well it was supposed to be clean! Budget in tax month is low about: $200-300

Them: I see. Unfortunately our service is a little bit more costly than that.

    Me: how much?

Them: best I could probably do for a list of 750,000 is around $8,250.00 for the whole batch

Me: fugme, I'm in the wrong bizness!

keep watching this forum for the big Scrubbers Showdown. IW, Quickie and Dagent's company (can't recall the name-sorry) are going head to head. Maybe others too

lol who charged 8.2k to scrub 750k?

typically that will cost you well under $500.

are you asking a question with this post, or just relating a weird experience?

Delivery verification isn't cheap - but that price is WAY over the line. If you're mailing TLD only - then you should buy deliverables - openers or clickers and save yourself a few headaches. Freedom - hit me up....again.

Did you find this out from a data guy who can't afford IW? Sure you don't have to worry about traps, but there's still a shit load of screamers and complainers out there.

No I bought the data because I was told it was IW scrubbed.

I thought that meant TLD deliverable. It doesn't. Contact IW to confirm.

I did not buy the data from anyone on MF. It was an external source.

I'm still looking for a validation/bounce removal service vs a trap removal service, for TLD.

I also tried some email verification software. It only reduced bounces by %2.

So it seems there is a market for TLD validation/bounce removal services even at around 1c /email verify.

How about just burning thru some servers/ips and remove the bounces yourself?

I'm just never gonna understand the "burn through" mentality people have. It's TLD - so you buy a server just for mailing your data to pull deliverables. You aren't going to "burn up" any servers but you aren't going to get killer delivery either which means that you aren't really going to get all the true deliverables out of your data.

This is a "cost vs. benefit" situation.

Should you buy servers/IPs to mail through all your data to get whatever deliverables you can?

Or should you JUST BUY DELIVERABLES!?

Best course of action - do both and find out what works better for you.

Thanks for the input. We are currently considering testing both options.

What is a 'deliverable'? Is it somebody who has opened an email at least once or is it someone who has clicked on a link in the email?

a deliverable is an address that has been successfully mailed to without bouncing.

Well yeah you can buy deliverables/openers too. He didnt sound like he wanted to spend that. So why not ruin the rep of some ips, get your deliverables out and move them to other space.
