Nothing is more infuriating than receiving unwanted mail, of all the nerve.

Steps we have taken today to stop you:

    1. All signups now require a user confirmed email to be able to post. (can someone please test this)

    2. If your spam continues even after this, we'll set mods up to be able to read your posts and approve them before they go live.

Thank you for fucking off and having a nice day, we appreciate it.

Are they starting new threads or just replying to your posts? If they are starting new threads, you should implement the feature where all users need a minimum of X amount of post before they can start their own thread. It's kind of a tricky step to implement when trying to grow a forum but it helps. :)

They keep promoting Viagra and other pharm stuff, we figured out how to begin blocking by IP so hopefully they'll give up in a few...

Hows it going over at flux ads Jon, give us some commentary and things to talk about!

You need to correctly set up your forum to block their IP's and counties via wildcards.

You can also use akismet for automated spam filtering on the forums...but for this kinda forum I think it may be better to go for a quality over quantity approach with the users.

    Hey,

You could also start a website named bulkmailhaus.org and start blocking IPs !

Kidding -- great you guys started this forum. I hope I can contribute as much as possible.

There's some software written in php called badbehavior. http://bad-behavior.ioerror.us/ Instead of blocking ips or content it works on the http request level. Comparing the activity with known web browser "signatures".

    Roundy,

Replying to you (unconfirmed) and looks like I can start a thread as well. All I did was sign up 5 minutes ago, got the welcome email but no link to chase for confirmation.
