I'm a GI mailer working out of the US and I've been considering picking up dedicated servers from providers in other countries. Have any of you had luck with international servers or are there too many issues? (lower delivery rates/ip justification woes/etc.)
You should not have any issues. That is assuming the space is not scorched earth, nor has the whole allocation blocked and you are setting things up properly. Good luck. :eating:
I think it was last year they assigned several new /8s that had never been used before to LATNIC. If you can get on that IP space you should be doing pretty good.
There are still a number of virgin blocks floating around out there as well, but the asking price is simply too high per IP, and/or term too long, for what most are willing to spend. The provider(s) have been holding on to them waiting for the right offer for 1-2 years now. You still have a TON of good IP space on the market, and in sizable allocatons. While IPv6 is becoming a reality, there is still so much unused IPv4 that you could easily make it another 2-4 years between what is currently out there, and what could be reclaimed from defunct companies. Agreed. Getting decent IP space is the easy part of mailing. There are many other factors to consider. If it were easy, anyone could do it and be successful.
