Surprisingly one of my websites took off over the past couple of years and as a result its opt-in email list has grown to almost 200,000 subscribers. I've been sending updates to the list every couple of weeks using a freeware mailing solution, but never removed any bounces (only unsubscribes). Each mailing results in a huge traffic boost and about 0.1% unsubscribe requests so I assume that many emails are getting delivered. Due to paranoia about giving anyone else (including ESPs, which might get hacked by spammers) access to the list, I've used an on-server freeware solution to send out the mailings and manually removed the unsubscribes, all of which has been quite time consuming. I'm now looking for a more professional solution to the following challenges. 1) Clean the list. There must be lots of undeliverables by now, maybe as much as 30%. 2) Find a mailing solution for daily mailings to the list (4 to 6 million emails per month), with automated removal of bounces and unsubscribes. 3) The list currently only contains the email addresses. I'd like to determine the current location of as many subscribers as possible (at least state or ideally ZIP code) to increase the value of the list and to be able to do more targeted mailings in the future. This should obviously happen automatically: when they open an email their IP and location is determined and added to the list. 4) I don't have a US street address. Considering that the newsletter contains pro-USA political news and commentary, many subscribers would be outraged if they saw a foreign mailing address, so I don't want to include a mailing address at all (it's not legally required as CAN-SPAM only applies to commercial emails). Alternatively I'd be open to using the service provider's US address if they insist on including one in the mailings. So, in summary, here's what I want to do: * Thoroughly clean an opt-in list of 200,000 * Send daily mailings, total 4 to 6 million emails per month * Determine subscriber location and add it to the list database * Avoid including a mailing address (or have ESP provide theirs) Any comments and ideas are welcome. My budget is $X,XXX to get set up with the right solution. Thanks.
1. I would talk to Bryan @ IW, or Damian on his new scrub system. They should handle this for you. 2. GB Responder (emailjedi), or Deliverability Agent (DAgent) are both good platforms, with solid guys willing to help. 4. You can always register a corporation, or DBA in certain U.S. states. Then get a mailbox that matches the corporate details. You would still be CAN-SPAM compliant in that regard. You just need to include the DBA deets in the mailing. :top:
^^^^^--------Like he said, or you can get interspire on a vps. That would be an option as well, much less cheaper, and with this platform, rent a coder, he can code something to tell you where the click come from, IP => State, city, etc, you can even determine if that person open the mail on a smartphone or a mac/windows, IE, firefox, etc (I have this code, let me know if you are interested, it's for free btw, so dont worry). Though, cleaning is still IW.
for 200k, interspire is enough if you dont want to use 3rd party ESP. Even if you use 3rd party ESP, you still need to use some shit IPs to clean out hard bounces ( IW only scrub traps and honeypot, not hard bouces) and for the mailing address, I think you can rent a US PO box ( if you google, you will find a lot) I know some Hong Kong mailers register their company in Hong Kong and use rented US PO box. Hope this helps.
I agree with using interspire. It's $500, and no monthly recurring fee for the software itself. You'll still need a server to run it on, but those are easy to find
