Apparently, I did a no-no in my diary. Would have been nice if someone reached out to me beforehand, so I could have edited the posts instead of trashing the topic.

Using PMTA new cold config to warm the ips. Using TLDs first then GI. Found that 30% of the first warming send had 30% bounces so there goes my IP rep if the rest of the list is like this. I have another server as the final mailer.

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the 2nd or 3rd time you send to your list and get a large percentage of hard bounces?

why aren't you cleaning your data before sending? you're just going to waste more IPs if you keep this up

    just saying..

    I sent only once.

As for hard bounces, this was a list that went through a known scrubbing service. I have a 250+ million list that I scrub against, and found it superior to catching traps than 2 of the services out there. As for hard bounces, I saw the results and these services are full of it.

The server that I am using is a hard bounce one anyway, but I am not using it efficiently. I was thinking of using a smaller server to blast through and find the hard bounces, and then use the 2nd layer(the one that I talk about the most) for traps.

You should always try to get the traps out first. (If not you will lose the server faster.) Then when you mail your list your mailer should be pulling out the hard bounces. (If not look at your log files and pull them out your self.) Once you go thru the list a couple of times following what I just posted your list will be good to go.

What I have realized so far:

    1. Setting up a reliable and effective mail platform is a bitch. Yeah, I could just let emails fly, but not understanding how things should be mailed (i.e. Yahoo) will waste more time.
    2. Setting up a process to clean the mail, and filtering hard and soft bounces is a bitch when it comes to protecting ip rep.
    3. This business is not an overnight success. I think I have spent nearly 3 months setting this up so far. The barrier of entry to this business is TIME to do it correctly.
    4. I am realizing that gaining more knowledge will save time in the future.
    5. did I say this business was a bitch?

Setting up another server for TLD only. Just configured a lengthy yahoo protocol and starting with /25. Don't know if that is enough, and I guess I will find out soon. Using another server from a broker to clean my TLDs for soft and hard bounces, and then will mail GI as the last set.

When warming IPs I get errors from gmail on low volume:

    5.7.1 (delivery not authorized)

Have to change the config in pmta. Someone hit the spam button on my harmless email and shit started to fly.

On second thought, wtf is warming up? In the case of TLDs, it seems you have to separate each domain and see the characteristics of each and tailor it to that. So trying to warm up ips with a collection of different domains may be a big waste of time.

Looking into mail verifier apps that mitigate bounces. Still mostly on setups.

So email verifiers are too expensive; unless I can come up with a cheaper alternative. Looks like I need to get a server just to clean for bounces.

What I learned with email verifiers:

    They suck

It seems that all verifiers were made for a very small list, including send-safe's verifier. Also, unless I am wrong, I like to separate the soft and hard bounces, and that you can't do with a verifier. Setting up another server just to clean my shitload of data.

Got distracted for a couple of months, and now back on track. Mailing TLDs before GI and will post stats.

Well, one thing I noticed, when stripping emails from list with user information, Send Safe List Manager misses emails by cutting them off. I have Listmate, and it does a better job, but takes longer. Devil in the details as they say.

So, catch-22 when using brokers for cleaning emails; some of the ips are shit. Developed a python script for testing emails since all commercial email verifiers are shit too.
