Dear Clients, We apologize for any down time you may have experienced since Friday. Last week was very challenging for the Kobeni Team. As you may have noticed SpamHaus has been targeting Kobeni and their clients since April. Additionally, we have had pressures from our own clients that have attempted to hack into our system. This is very difficult for us, as we have always treated our clients as family. Fortunately, the hacking attempts were unsuccessful; however, this poses risks that we are no longer willing to take. We regret to inform you that the Onpoint Mail platform will no longer be accessible to all users as of June 24, 2013. Due to pressures from SpamHaus, we have decided to cease the ESP operations, succumbing to SpamHaus's immense and unrelenting pressure. We apologize to all of our dedicated clients, as we have appreciated your business. We are truly sad to see our relationship end. Unfortunately, there are those in our industry who attempt to bring down organizations like ours. We wish you all well in your future endeavors. Our accounting team will be working to adjust all invoices for June, 2013 and will be refunding all clients, dating back to June 20. 2013. Please contact [email protected] for an access link to download your data files and to arrange your payment. Again, we appreciate your dedication to our platform and our service. Thank you and we wish you all much success moving forward! Thank you, Kobeni
I switched from OnPoint to DeliverabilityAgent a couple of years ago and haven't looked back since. It's a great alternative to OP and is similar in terms of ease of use and feature set. Definitely worth checking out if you searching for a replacement.
Pathdrop is also a decent alternative for GI mailing, but I dunno how John is about accepting new clients.
1. I believe that some of the Kobeni guys have moved over to a new platform that is active within the community. They do not call it Kobeni 3.0, but it is essentially a rebranded + improved platform that has been out for some time now. I am not sure if it's the same guys under a new shell, or it's some of them who've split off from the old group. But either way, they're alive and well. Simply look at who are some of the more popular GI platforms. 2. Kobeni has suffered from the same problem for the past 4-5 years as they do today. Lack of effective management in leaving a trail of breadcrumbs that made them easy to follow. As I have said in other threads, Spamhaus is not Columbo. A few years back Kobeni was getting hammered the same way they are now. Both IW and ourselves looked at how it was possible they were getting pounded like they are today, often times before they could even mail out on new servers. It did not take long to see the problems in their set up that caused their issues. For a couple of years since that point, they managed to stay off the radar on some level. But the past 6+ months they have been hammered like a mofo. Do you believe that Haus is just that good? Or do you believe that it's a single points of weakness they have failed to address that would make them easy pickens. I can assure you it's the latter.
Nope. However, I will advise you that if you think on it, the answer will become clear. That goes for the Kobeni 3.0 rebrand, as well as the single points of failure (i.e. breadcrumbs) previously mentioned.. :top:
Can I get some of the shrooms you're on to post this tin-foil hatted and completely incorrect speculation? lol
I don't know man he said if you think hard enough... ughh, can't keep it up lol I certainly don't think they're re-branding or that any of their ex-employees or such left to make something new.
I know what we were told, and the names dropped (as references required), at the time they were looking for ip's to launch their new GI platform. We ultimately did not sell any to them however, as we do not provide ip space to GI mailers. That being said, if people would like to believe the whole Kobeni's operation closed up shop, and all of these guys are now out of a job and the mailer game, so be it. If people thing Spamhaus uses a magic crystal ball and that is how they find mailers entire operations with no help from the breadcrumbs the mailer themselves are leaving, you're welcome to believe that as well. I have no interest in fighting about it either way.
Considering they are getting SBL's almost daily, I do not think they every closed up shop. Maybe they changed owners or branding, but the daily SBL's have continued on daily since this announcement. I know they used to have a ton of clients a few years back, and booths at the conference. It was just poorly managed on the infrastructure side of things.
