What is everyones opinion on retrying to mail soft bounces? Is there a certain amount of retries you would do before discarding the email and adding it to your suppression list?

Standard rule is 3 X on soft bounces Immediately on hard bounces though I remember reading that Mailchimp has a diff take on it. I will try to dig up the blog post.

Mail Chimp probably has really clean IPs. If you're mailing on crummy IPs you might want to keep some of the softbounces. There might be some good data in there that will deliver and click on better IPs.

keep in mind - softbounce refers to 4XX but not ALL 4XX.

I am referring to mailbox full or over quota messages (and I believe they are as well).

Temp deferrals (which also have a 4XX) should not be removed but handled by backing off and following what the specific ISP suggests.
