If you're a mailer using mainstream (big name) ESPs successfully, you're well familiar with the various approval processes in place, and these processes are rapidly getting more stringent every month.

We specialize in helping our clients scale their ESP revenue by adding additional brands, and we've put together some useful tips for improving your current and new brand's website for email marketing purposes.

Below is a list of some useful tips to get you through various approval processes with ease.
Some may seem obvious, but I'm sure everyone will find some useful information here.

    1. Make sure your website clearly illustrates your business model. Your website should answer questions, not create them.

And of course since you'll want to illustrate how you get subscribers, make sure you have a functional email signup form that clearly explains why a visitor would signup.

    2. Ensure your business domain is at least 2 weeks old prior to signing up for any services.

We recommend to our clients that they purchase multiple domains ahead of time, enough for any new brands they plan to launch over the next few months.

This way when you're ready to use a domain it's already sufficiently aged. We can also recommend good sources for quality aged domains.

    3. An impressive website may not seem necessary, but having a high quality modern website will make it much easier to get through every approval process.

Everyone knows your website needs to look good to be taken seriously by potential clients, but this is also true when it comes to service providers that have standards.

The better your brand image is, the easier it will be to get through each approval process.

    4. Make sure you have a contact section with a variety of contact information on your website. Nothing is less professional and sets off more red flags than a basic contact form with no additional contact information.

    5. Avoid using PO Boxes as addresses, get a professional office address for you brand.
We can help you with that as a well as an 800# with professional greeting.

    6. Ensure your website has all the required legal policies in the footer.

Many ESPs will want to see that your policies cover CAN-SPAM compliance and as well as how you handle unsubscribe requests and your unsubscribe process.

These policies should be customized for your particular business and have correct business contact details throughout. We can setup a variety of policies for your brand.

Stay tuned for Part 2 coming next week which will cover Lists, Campaigns and Social Branding.
